I am almost at the end of my 1st month of esthetician school, and i absolutely love it! But let me tell you, i am treasuring my sleep more and more everyday. Between early morning commuting, and late night studying my sleep is precious and much needed. So, i decided to share with you all some of my favorite and most trusted ways of making sure i get a good nights sleep. Each day this week will be a new post about my favorite thing: SLEEP.
To start it off, there really isnt anywhere else to start besides LAVENDER, the oil almost everyone knows and loves. It has so many uses, but its calming and sedative properties are what make it incredible for sleep. These two constituents contribute to its effectiveness...
.
Linalool- a terpene alcohol that occurs in nature (fun fact, its also found in the cannabis plant). Linalool is linked to the production of Vitamin E, which makes it and important terpene to help support healthy bodily function. Two ways Linalool works is 1.) it interacts with the molecules at the site in the body where the muscles talk to the nervous system (telling it to relax). And 2.) Linalool blocks excitable activity in the brain, allowing you to "shut down" your brain.

Beta-Carophyllene (BCP) - you will probably hear me talk about BCP any chance i get, i love it that much. BCP is a terepene that acts as a cannabinoid, which means it interacts with the Cannabinoid receptor in your brain known as the CB2 receptor, which is the same receptor that is triggered by CBD. The CB2 receptor is critically involved in the modulation of inflammatory and neuropathic pain responses, as well as regulating emotional behavior.
